Hi guys. I really wish I could make this announcement in game, and say goodbye properly; however, my wow subscription ended on wednesday and it was a spur of the moment decision to not renew for another month. I'm probably letting some people down since I wasn't on last night to lead the weekly raid, but I hope you guys were successful if you decided to run it without me. There are a few reasons why I'm quitting and I might as well share these with you since you guys were close friends while I was playing.
The first and most important reason is simply the time commitment. While I wish I could simply play less instead of quitting, I have realized that moderating the time I spend on this game has become very difficult. I guess WOW has become somewhat of an addiction (I'm sure some of you can relate).
The second reason is the lack of a policy on the part of blizzard in regards to racial tolerance in warcraft. I don't want to get too far into this as it is a secondary reason for quitting. To make things short, although I am a white male and probably face the least amount of descrimination, I have been raised not to tolerate that kind of behavior. I have noticed numerous times the use of racial slurs in trade chat. I have reported these players and was dismayed to see the same players talking in trade chat days later. After filing a ticket with a GM to see what their policy on this kind of language is, I was informed that GMs do not discuss punishments that are handed out to other players. I no longer wish to financially support a company that refuses to deal with this issue.
On a lighter note, I just wanted to say that you guys have really made my time in the guild enjoyable and I wish you the best of luck. No one in fires of beltane was ever rude to me even when they were having a hard time in game or in real life. I would like to wish you all a merry christmas and a happy holiday season to those of you who do not celebrate it.
Sincerely,
Easy
